Hey friends πŸŒπŸ“±

Have you ever noticed how your social media feed always seems to agree with you? Same types of videos, same opinions, even the same kind of jokes? I used to think that was awesome β€” until I realized something: I was stuck in a digital bubble.

Let's talk about the "filter bubble" and how it might be limiting what we see, think, and feel β€” without us even knowing it.

What is a "filter bubble"?

It's basically the content cocoon that algorithms build around you.

Every time we like, comment, share, or even just pause on something, platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok take notes πŸ“

They start feeding us more of what we engage with. The result?

We only see posts that match our beliefs, interests, and opinions.

Sounds cozy, right? But it's also a little dangerous.

When I first noticed it...

It hit me when I was chatting with a friend about a global news story.

I was shocked that they had a completely different take on it β€” and even more shocked that I hadn't even seen the stuff they were talking about.

That's when I realized my feed wasn't showing me "the world." It was showing me my world β€” filtered, edited, and narrowed down by an algorithm 🀯

Why it matters more than we think

The bubble doesn't just limit your content. It can limit your perspective.

β€’ You stop hearing different sides

β€’ You only see people who agree with you

β€’ You think everyone thinks like you

Over time, it gets harder to tell what's real, what's biased, and what you're missing entirely.

So what can we do?

Here's what I've started doing to pop the bubble a little 🫧

β€’ I follow people I don't agree with

β€’ I watch videos from outside my usual interests

β€’ I click on articles I normally wouldn't read

β€’ I try not to "train" the algorithm too much

It takes effort, but honestly, it's worth it. My feed feels more real now. It's not just an echo chamber anymore β€” it's a window.

Let's stay curious together 🌈

The internet is HUGE, but the bubble makes it feel tiny.

Let's not settle for a small slice of reality just because it's comfortable.

Have you ever felt like your feed was showing you too much of the same thing? Let me know in the comments β€” and maybe tag a friend to burst their bubble too πŸ˜‰βœ¨
